RIGHT VENTRICLE

Posted on 7:27 PM by know about heart

It is a triangular shape chamber situated below the right atrium. It receives blood from the right atrium then pumps the blood to the lungs through pulmonary trunk and arteries. It forms the inferior bonder most part of sternocostal surface and one third of diaphragmatic surface.
FEATURE:
Externally,
The right ventricle has three surface sternocostal, inferior, and posterior surfaces.
Internally,
The interior of right ventricle consists of two parts-inflowing part and outflowing part. Inflowing part is rough because a muscular ridge called trabeculac carnear is present here. It receives blood from the right atrium through the right atrioventricular orifice. It is also known as ventricle proper. There are three types of muscular ridges or trabeculae present in the inflowing part they are i) ridges ii) bridges iii) pillars of papillary muscle. Papillary muscles have two ends. One and attached to the ventricular wall and another end is attached to the tricuspid valve by chordae tendinae. The wall of the right ventricle is thinner than the wall of the left ventricle. The outflowing part also known as conus arteriosus or infundibulum. It is smooth. Smooth part and rough part is separated by supraventricular crest, which is a muscular ridge.

DEVELOPMENT:
The inflow tract or rough part is developed from the proximal part of bulbus cordis of the heart tube. The outflow part is developed from the mid portion of the bulbus cordis.
