THE HEART
THE HEART is a conical shape hollow muscular pumping organ of the body .It’s function is to supply blood to whole body. The heart is placed obliquely in the chest cavity. It is the most valuable organ of the body.

Cardiac weight is 0.45% of body weight in males and 0.40% in females. Adult weight is achieved between the ages of 17 and 20 years.
FEATURE OF THE HEART: It has
APEX: It is situated in the left side of this organ. The direction of apex is downwards, forwards and to the left.
BASE: It lies posteriorly.
CHAMBER: IT has four chambers:                                                                                                                                           A) Atria (right & left)
B) Ventricle (right & left)
Ventricle is much thicker than atria.
VALVE:It has four valves
Tricuspid valve or right atrioventricular valve

SHAPE:   HEART is conical or pyramidal form. Enclosed in the pericardium, it occupies the middle mediastinum.
